The Master Builders’ Association of Western Pennsylvania, Inc. (“MBA,” “we,” “us”) operates this website. This policy explains what information we collect when you use it, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. Several MBA services run on other companies’ platforms, and those are covered under “Services that run on other platforms” below.
Information you give us
You can read almost all of this site without telling us anything about yourself. We collect personal information only when you choose to send it, which happens in a few places:
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number, company, and whatever you write in the message.
- Membership application: your name, title, email, and phone, plus details about your company such as its name, address, and type of work.
- Email and phone: anything you send us directly when you write or call.
Form submissions are stored on this website and emailed to the MBA staff member who handles that subject.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our web host records standard request information, including IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the date and time. We use it to keep the site running, secure, and fast.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people use and how they find us. It reports on visits in aggregate. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, and this site carries no advertising or remarketing tags.
- Site search. We record the terms typed into the site search so we can see what visitors are looking for and fix what is hard to find.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses them for two purposes: measuring traffic through Google Analytics, and keeping pages fast through our caching and security systems. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit using Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Blocking cookies will not stop you from reading this site.
How we use information
- To answer your questions and respond to what you send us.
- To review and process membership applications.
- To tell you about MBA events, training, safety programs, and association news.
- To operate and improve the website.
- To meet legal, tax, and association record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade mailing lists.
Who we share information with
We share information only in these situations:
- Service providers that run parts of the site or our operations for us, including our web host, our email delivery service, our analytics provider, and our association management system. They may use the information only to provide that service to us.
- MBA programs you ask to take part in, such as a training course, a committee, or the drug-free program.
- When the law requires it, or when it is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of the MBA, our members, or the public.
Services that run on other platforms
Several MBA services are hosted by other companies and are governed by their privacy policies, not this one:
- members.mbawpa.org holds the member directory, event registration, member login, and job postings. It runs on GrowthZone.
- mbawpa.aeconlinestore.com is the MBA online store. It runs on AEC Online.
- breakinggroundpittsburgh.com publishes current BreakingGround content. It is an independent publication with its own site.
When you follow a link into one of these, you are on that company’s system, and its privacy policy and terms apply to what you do there.
Embedded and linked content
Some pages embed content from other services. The WPA Construction Industry Calendar is a Google Calendar, and our webinar videos are hosted on YouTube. Videos use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, so the player loads only after you press play. Embedded content can collect information about you in the same way that visiting that service’s own site would.
We also link to member companies, government agencies, and industry organizations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we link to.
Email from the MBA
We use email to tell members and the wider industry about events, training, and association news. Every message includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also email info@mbawpa.org and ask us to take you off the list. We will still send you messages you need about something you registered for or about a membership matter.
How long we keep information
We keep form submissions and correspondence for as long as we need them for the purpose you sent them and to maintain proper association records. Website analytics data is kept on our analytics provider’s standard retention schedule. When information no longer serves a purpose, we delete it.
Security
This site runs over an encrypted (https) connection, and access to form submissions is limited to MBA staff who need it. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you send us.
Children
This site is intended for construction industry professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email info@mbawpa.org and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@mbawpa.org or write to the address below, and we will respond. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state or national privacy law. Tell us what you are asking for and we will handle the request.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices or the services we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the current version.
