AIA/MBA Joint Committee

• Promote communication between architects, contractors and owners in an effort for each to gain a better understanding of the construction process.
• Provide a forum for contractors, architects and owners.
• Encourage the industry to inform the Joint Committee of problems which may be discussed and resolved.
• Establish guidelines for improving the construction process.
• Disseminate and encourage industry use of the Recommended Construction Practices.

Apprentice Information Committee

• A private, voluntary organization established to publicize and distribute information concerning apprenticeship opportunities in the union construction crafts.
• Secure, maintain and publicize a current compilation of apprenticeship information and make it available to the general public
• Foster cooperation between construction employers, unions, educational organizations and community groups
• Promote equal opportunity in construction apprenticeship and in allied training programs
• Assist in recruiting and referring applicants for apprenticeship opportunities

MBA Labor Negotiation Steering Committee

• To ensure that the MBA's labor relations activities are carried out in accordance with the By-Laws of the Master Builders' Association of Western Pennsylvania, Inc.
• Responsible for negotiation of labor agreements.
• Develop policies governing the MBA's relationship with unions representing the members' employees.
• Monitor labor negotiations of local, regional and national groups having a direct or indirect effect on MBA labor relations.
• Monitor the availability of the construction industry workforce.
• Represent the MBA in its relations with international unions, national associations, construction user groups, and governmental entities regarding construction labor relations issues.

Representatives from all MBA Regular Member firms contribute to labor negotiations on an as-needed basis.

Risk Management Committee

• Provides guidance and support to MBA Staff to ensure that an effective safety program is maintained for Western PA's building industry.
• Promote safety awareness.
• Review and comment on proposed safety and health regulations.
• Review MBA safety publications, training courses and seminars.
• Promote participation in Safety Statistics Tabulation Program (AGC).
• Maintain liaison with local, state and federal agencies.
• Reduce substance abuse through cooperation with enforcement agencies and contractor associations.
