E-4, April, 1987
Temporary Water Supply

The Plumbing Contractor shall construct the permanent water supply line to the proper location as required by the construction drawings and specifications and shall maintain these lines, protecting same from damage.

The Plumbing Contractor shall provide, protect, and maintain the adequate water supply for the use of Contractors on the project during the period of construction, either by means of the permanent water supply line or by the installation of a temporary water supply line. This water supply line shall be made available within fifteen (15) days after written request has been made to the Plumbing Contractor by any Contractor requiring this service, with copies to all interested parties. If the source of water supply is a well, provisions covering the supply of water shall include protection of the well from contamination. The water supply shall be tested periodically by the Plumbing Contractor and, if necessary, shall be chlorinated and filtered.

The Plumbing Contractor will be required to bring the temporary water supply to a point approximately ten feet (10 ft.) from the building and to provide a meter, if required. The actual location of the point to which the water is brought will be determined by the General Contractor. From this point, each Contractor shall install, valve, maintain and protect such temporary water lines as he will require to perform the work under his contract.

If the water is currently metered, the Owner will bear all charges. If the water is not currently metered, the General Contractor will pay all charges.

When temporary water lines are no longer required, they shall be removed by the Contractors responsible for their installation and any part, or parts, of the grounds or buildings disturbed or damaged shall be restored to their original condition.

If the Plumbing Contractor fails to carry out his responsibility in supplying temporary water supply as set forth in this contract, he shall be held responsible for such failure, and the Owner shall have the right to take such action as he deems proper for the protection and conduct of the work, and shall deduct the cost involved from the amount due the Plumbing Contractor.
